For centuries books have been the living memory of mankind. Either patiently written or wisely printed, books have gone through history, bearing witness of it and reflecting man's attitude before himself and before the world he has had to live in.

The walls of the monastery were silent witnesses of the patient work of monks for whom the time did not exist. They spent years devoted to the handwriting copying, to the richest and unique illuminations of codexes which were treated as jewels.

Lives dedicated to the cult and the work, to the religion and the knowledge, to the faith and the beauty.

Ricardo Coll Vivó and Jose G. Moya, editors of the company Scriptorium, are delighted to contemplate now what over years was a dream and today has become true: to make copies from originals onto natural lambskin parchment.

For the last ten years Scriptorium has been editing high quality facsimiles by using the best existing paper supports, even having made special productions of the so-called 'pergamenata' paper, from which and after humidification and later crumpling treatments, visual aspects have been achieved with a high resemblance to natural parchment, which for centuries was the support used in the elaboration of the old manuscripts. However, by using any type of paper-based support, it is absolutely comprehensible that the own characteristics of natural parchment, such as the durability, touch, texture, smell as well as the uniformity and its own natural beauty, are impossible to imitate.

Scriptorium, in its neverending search for improving the results obtained in conventional editions and in its eagerness to diffuse, enables through its copies elaborated with lambskin natural parchment the knowledge and wisdom to get out of palaces and abbeys and to renovate that indescribable pleasure only enjoyed by royal bibliophiles up until now.

The copies made from manuscripts, codexes and historic documents disseminate the bibliographic art and transmit us the enjoyment of the senses at the contemplation of those authentic treasures which make us move and revive the deliberate work of the monks in the scriptorium or the love of those learned hands sawing one by one the sheets of parchment. But, above all, they reveal the art and the wisdom, the creation and the reflection of those documents produced to last throughout the time as objects of beauty and singlar luxury, worked on as filigrees and as such we receive them now.
